In the last Council term, I was a member of the DLRCC Culture, Community and Ageing Strategic Policy Committee. I have raised the issue of long delays when processing grants for home improvements for the elderly at this committee. Many families find themselves in a situation where chair lifts or downstairs bathrooms may have to be installed to assist a family member.

There are grants available for these improvements but the waiting time can be quite long. I am hoping that the process can be simplified and that family members who are already experiencing difficulties due to an elderly relative’s illness will not be put through further hardship.
